I am experiencing erratic movement within the game during game play.

The movement problems you are experiencing are due to an input conflict on your system. This happens with other games as well. It means you have a game controller plugged in (gamepad, joystick, or steering wheel) that is interfering with the controls, or is not properly calibrated. This can occur without you even touching said controller.

Make sure you check the game controller connection to your gameport, turn off any third party software to run or calibrate your game controller, and recalibrate it in Control Panel --> Game Controllers. Try the game again.

If this does not work, turn off the computer, unplug the game controller, and restart the computer. Got to Control Panel --> Game Controllers, and remove any existing game controllers.

I have a laptop and no number pad. What controls do I use?

You will need the Laptop patch for the lack of 10 keys on a laptop. Please check the patches section for this download. It is simple to use, just copy this to the program files\square soft, inc\final fantasy directory. Here is the list of what keys do what:

  • Arrow keys = Directional key
  • Enter = [OK]
  • Space Bar = [CANCEL]
  • Shift = [MENU]
  • Ctrl = [SWITCH]
  • PageUp = [PAGEUP]
  • PageDn = [PAGEDOWN]
  • Home = [CAMERA]
  • End = [TARGET]
  • Insert = [START]
  • Delete = [ASSIST]
